Green tree pythons primarily live in New Guinea and Northern Australia. Their preferred habitats include rainforests, bushes, shrubs, and other areas with warm, balmy climates.
They are solitary animals that spend most of their lives in tree branches. They are not venomous and survive on a diet of small mammals and other reptiles. This snake is recognized by its bright green color and broken stripe of white that runs down its vertebrae. On average, green tree pythons grow between 5.2 to 7.2 feet long. They are popular pets and have been known to live up to 35 years in captivity.
