The life expectancy of an individual with cerebral palsy depends on the individual case, according to CerebralPalsy.org. Cerebral palsy is non-progressive and occurs after a brain injury, so an infant may pass away shortly after diagnosis or live an average lifespan depending on the severity of the injury.
A child with severe disability in sight, hearing, cognitive function and motor function has a 50 percent likelihood of surviving to 13 years and a 25 percent likelihood of surviving to 30 years, according to the National Institutes of Health; however, prognosis is unique to a patient's individual case and his areas and severity of disability.
