Where do okapis live?

In the wild, okapis live in Central Africa's Ituri rainforest, which is located in the northwestern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Okapis are also found in captivity in zoos around the world.
For all appearances, the okapi look like a cousin to the zebra, but their closest relative is actually the giraffe. The okapi live in an area of the rainforest where little light penetrates, making their large ears and acute hearing especially crucial to keeping watch for predators. Okapi mainly feed on grasses, fruits, leaves and fungi, and they're not social. They prefer to live alone, although they sometimes live in pairs with a mother and her offspring living together.
