The Cuban government owns Cubana Airlines, as of 2015. Private investors founded the airline and owned it until the Cuban Revolution in 1959, when the government appropriated it and all other privately owned businesses.
Cubana Airlines, whose official name is Cubana de Aviacion S.A., began operations in 1929 and became a PanAm subsidiary in 1932. Its first flight to the United States was to Miami in 1945, and regularly scheduled flights to the United States continued until 1959.
Cubana is Cuba's largest airline and operates from the Jose Marti International Airport in Havana. The airline provides transportation to more than 35 international locales.
