SeaWorld Entertainment, Inc. is a publicly traded company that is owned by many individuals and institutional investors. As of June 2014, Blackstone Group L.P. was the largest shareholder, owning 22.49 percent of shares outstanding.
Though SeaWorld shares have fallen by 49 percent since becoming public in April 2013, according to the New York Post, Blackstone's position was taken in 2009 when SeaWorld was still private and profitable. Index-fund giant The Vanguard Group also owns a sizable position. SeaWorld shares are listed on the New York Stock Exchange. The entertainment company has a market capitalization of $1.48 billion as of November 2014.
