Doing a plié squat involves assuming the correct position, squatting straight down while holding weights, then pressing back up into the starting position. You need a light pair of hand weights to do a plié squat.
- Start in the correct position
Stand with your feet wider than shoulder-width apart and toes turned out. Hold the hand weights in front of you with your arms straight down. Lift your heels slightly off the ground.
- Squat down into plié position
Bend your knees to a 90-degree position. Keep your weight over your feet and your back straight. Keep your knees aligned over your toes as you bend.
- Rise back up to the starting position
Press back up while maintaining correct alignment.
