Where does the president live?

The president of the United States lives in the White House at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue N.W. in Washington, DC. The White House is not only the president's residence, it also contains the Oval Office, which is the official office of the president, and a number of historical American artifacts.

The Oval Office is in the West Wing. The West Wing also has offices for the chief of staff, the vice president and the press secretary, among other offices.

The cornerstone for the White House was laid in 1792, although it was not officially finished until 1800. The site for the White House was chosen by George Washington.
