The regulation height for dart boards has the bull's eye 5 feet 8 inches off the ground. This height applies whether the game is played with soft-tipped or steel-tipped darts.
When using steel-tipped darts, the throwing line is 7 feet, 9 1/4 inches from the front of the dart board. For soft-tipped darts, the throwing line is 8 feet from the dart board. The board must be flush to the wall, without any leaning or tilting, and the number 20 should be at the top of the dart board. The score board is typically set up to the left or right of the board. Floors that can be damaged easily should be covered with a dart mat.
