When do you remove hummingbird feeders?

Removing a hummingbird feeder is done at the owner's discretion, as migratory hummingbirds native to the area migrate even if a feeder is present. Feeders that are left out for the winter may attract non-migratory hummingbirds or those migrating from other locations.
Hummingbirds are some of the smallest birds in existence and have the highest metabolisms of any animal, aside from insects. Capable of flapping their wings more than 50 times a second, hummingbirds can fly in any direction at speeds of 30 miles per hour or more. When food is scarce, hummingbirds enter a state similar to hibernation called torpor in which their metabolisms slow dramatically.
