When should you put out hummingbird feeders?

Location, climate and the birds' migratory habits determine the ideal time to put out feeders. In some areas, such as along the Pacific coast and the Southern Texas coast, you can offer year-round feeding, while hummingbirds only appear between February and June in other regions.
Hummingbird migration begins in mid-February in the Southern United States, in March to April in the central parts of the country and in late April or early May further north. The birds typically appear in Canada or Alaska in mid-May or early June. If in doubt, put feeders out too early rather than too late and use seasonal clues, such as the blooming of spring flowers and the arrival of other migrating birds, as a guide.
