What is a reverse brindle?

A reverse brindle is an animal that appears to have a pattern of broken light stripes and streaks on a background coat of the same hue, but darker. Brindle normally occurs as dark stripes or streaks on a light background.

Reverse brindle is actually a variant of normal brindle, where the dark streaks are so wide that they dominate the coat. The lighter background color is confined to the narrow areas between the dark stripes, which appear to be stripes themselves. Reverse brindle is also called black brindle. Heavy brindle is an intermediate coat type between normal and reverse brindle.
