What does a robin eat?

A robin's diet consists primarily of insects, worms, berries and fruit. The birds seek out lawns and gardens following periods of rain and at the sight of freshly cut grass, when it is easier to seek out prey.
The robin is found in gardens, open woodlands, agricultural land and other habitats throughout North America in both rural and urban settings. Their cheery song, orange breast and late-winter arrival make the bird a welcome backyard addition to bird enthusiasts. The birds are instantly drawn to mature shrubbery and trees and can be further attracted with fruit and the addition of a bird bath.
