When should you plant gladiolus?

Gladiolus corms can be planted in spring, after the last frost date for the area. Wait until the soil has begun to warm up, and plant the corms where the flowers are exposed to full sun and well-drained soil.
Till the bed where the gladiolus corms are to be planted, loosening it to a depth of 12 to 15 inches, and mix in a 2- to 4-inch layer of compost. Dig a 4- to 8-inch hole for each corm, and set the corm into the hole so that the pointed end faces up, then pack the soil back on top of it. Space the corms about 3 to 6 inches apart for smaller gladiolus varieties and 6 to 8 inches apart for larger varieties. Water the soil thoroughly after planting the corms.
