Where do stingrays live?

Generally, stingrays live in temperate, shallow water. They live in and around Australia, the United States and Africa, among other places.

Stingrays are carnivorous fish that grow to be over 6 feet long and can weigh up to 790 pounds. They spend their time buried in the sand under shallow water and have superb camouflage to help them blend in with the ocean floor. They have long barbed tails that may or may not contain venom, depending on the species. They use their tails primarily for defense, but some use their tails to help them swim. In the wild, a stingray can live from 20 to 25 years.
