Is there such a thing as a brown schnauzer?

All varieties of the schnauzer come in either black, white, salt-and-pepper or black-and-silver, so this breed does not have a brown coat. Schnauzers are available in three sizes: miniature, standard and giant.

The miniature schnauzer weighs no more than 15 pounds, while the giant schnauzer can weigh more than 100 pounds. The standard schnauzer weighs up to 50 pounds. All schnauzers are characterized by square, compact builds, a thick double coat and prominent beards. Schnauzers are considered intelligent, energetic and enthusiastic. Their temperaments are similar to that of terriers, making them effective watch and guard dogs. The Schnauzer has been often depicted in European art throughout history.
