What are the tangram shapes?

A tangram set is made up of one square, one parallelogram and five triangles. Two of the triangles are small at half the size of the square. One triangle is three times the size of the small triangles, and two triangles are six times the size of the small triangles.

Tangram shapes are used in puzzles to create larger, more complex shapes. Non-traditional tangram sets include different types of shapes designed to create more complicated puzzles. Within a tangram set, each individual shape is called a tan. Each shape is mathematically related to the other shapes in size, and the smaller shapes can combine to form the larger shapes.
