Vitamin E is an essential nutrient that may prevent heart diseases such as high blood pressure, heart attack and chest pain, according to WebMD. Some people also use it to prevent cancer and treat diabetes and diseases that affect the nervous system such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and restless legs syndrome. Women may also use vitamin E to prevent complications during the late stages of pregnancy, according to WebMD.
