Who walks the groom's mother down the aisle?

The mother of the groom is traditionally walked down the aisle by an usher or a groomsman. The exception to this custom is in a traditional Jewish wedding where the groom is escorted to the altar by one or both of his parents.
When she is escorted by an usher or a groomsman, the mother of the groom is followed directly by her husband, and the couple is seated on the right-hand side. In less traditional ceremonies, the mother of the groom may choose to walk down the aisle unescorted or to be accompanied by her husband, a relative or a family friend.
