Albert Simpson Reitz was born on January 20, 1879, in Lyons, Kansas. After his ordination, he was an active pastor at the First Baptist Church in Berlin, Wisconsin. He was the pastor there for three years before he became the pastor at the Rosehill Baptist Church in Los Angeles, California, and then later the Fairview Heights Baptist Church in Inglewood, California. He wrote more than 100 Gospel songs over the course of his life.
