Can dogs eat cherries?

There is no health benefit or concern with feeding a dog cherries. However, the pit should be removed, along with stems and leaves. Cherries provide no major health concerns to a canine, but they may cause an upset stomach or diarrhea.
The general rule of thumb is to only feed your canine dog food and not supplement with any food that is meant for human consumption. Cherries are not a source of food that a dog would seek out in the wild and eat. Given that there are no real health benefits and some possible digestive discomfort for dogs, it is not recommended to feed a dog cherries.
