The only animals on record to eat jaguars are humans. Most hunting of jaguars is done to protect livestock or to take jaguar fur and other body parts for sale on the black market, but jaguar meat is occasionally eaten in the Amazon.
Jaguars are apex predators, meaning that they are at the top of the food chain and no other animals in their habitat prey upon them. Humans often do hunt jaguars, but it is only rarely that they are eaten. People have used jaguar meat as a subsistence food. The consumption of jaguar meat is particularly associated with Colombia.
