Where do hamsters live in the wild?
By Forinfos - 07/05/2026 - 0 comments
Hamsters are primarily nocturnal and stay underground during daylight hours so that they may avoid dangerous predators. The Syrian hamster, also known as the golden hamster, is the first known species in existence that was discovered by a researcher by the name of George Robert Waterhouse in 1839.
After being successfully bred in the city of Jerusalem in Israel, hamsters were imported to the United States to be owned as pets and used as laboratory animals. Some hamsters end up escaping captivity or sneaking out of their owner's homes, in which case they will try to create burrows and adapt to a life outside.
