According to VeterinaryPartner.com, there is a chewable form of the antibiotic Clavamox that is prescribed to humans. However, it is more typically used in liquid form for cats and dogs, states the Daily Med.
The Daily Med explains that Clavamox, a combination of amoxicillin trihydrate and clavulanate potassium, is effective against many types of bacteria. In dogs and cats, it is commonly used for wounds, abscesses and other soft tissue infections. Because amoxicillin occasionally causes allergic reactions, pets should be monitored after the drug has been administered. A standard prescription runs for five to seven days, with two doses daily.
