Moose mainly live in the taiga and tundra biomes. They also live in parts of Alaska, southern Canada, the northern United States, northern Europe and southern Asia.
Moose can be found in mountainous areas as well as in the taiga and tundra. There are eight subspecies of moose (Alces alces) within the large range of area mentioned. The typical environment in which a moose lives has coniferous and deciduous trees as well as snow in the winter months. Usually, there are lakes, streams and other water sources nearby that moose use to quench their thirst and cool off during the summer months.
