The source of the Nile River is considered to be the Kagera River and its tributary, the Ruvubu River, in the African country of Burundi. The Nile River travels for over 4,200 miles until it empties into the Mediterranean Sea.
The Nile River is largely regarded as the longest river in the world. It reaches a maximum width of two miles and has a basin area over 1.3 million square miles. This river travels through the countries of Kenya, Eritrea, Congo, Burundi, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia. The Nile River is the main water source for the countries of Egypt and Sudan.
