Where does the Nile River begin?

The White Nile, considered the primary source of the Nile River, starts at Lake No located in South Sudan. Some people consider Lake Victoria, the rivers that drain from it and feed into the White Nile the start of the Nile instead. Most of the water comes from the Blue Nile, along with most of the fertile soil.

The Nile River flows northward and flows through approximately seven countries. Some sources of water are still unknown though suspected to be in Rwanda or Burundi. The northern part of the river flows mostly through desert as it goes from Sudan to Egypt. The Nile River eventually empties into the Mediterranean Sea, creating a large delta.
