Pure vitamin E oil is good for the skin, according to HowStuffWorks. Vitamin E is an antioxidant that can protect skin against free radical damage.
Free radicals are oxygen molecules with unpaired electrons, says HowStuffWorks. Because the molecules want even numbers of electrons in their shells, they grab electrons from other molecules. This can damage skin cells and tissues, creating a leathery texture, fine lines and wrinkles. Vitamin E gives one of its electrons to the free radicals, preventing skin damage.
Vitamin E oil is applied topically to the skin, but vitamin E is also found in foods such as avocados and nuts, says HowStuffWorks.
