Players in the CFL, or Canadian Football League, earn $80,000 a season on average as of mid-2014, as stated by "Sports Illustrated." The minimum beginning salary for a CFL rookie is $50,000 a season. CFL players receive additional compensation for participating in play-off games and in the Grey Cup.

In addition to their salary, CFL players receive a per diem amount that helps cover their expenses while traveling. Payment is also rendered for participation in pre-season training camps. The amount earned varies based on how long the player has played with the CFL.

Other aspects of the CFL compensation package include a pension program and free game tickets.
